Hello to all,
allow me to pipe in - I've been using a Dremel 3D20 printer for half a year now and have already over 1100 hours on it. Mostly printing from thingiverse (among others a full size E-violine and a E-cello), but 'designing' and remixing parts as needed, mostly for RC modelling and other toys, but other things to, like display holder for the mill, tacho on the lathe, figurines for a chilren's theater, toys
The tool for me is 123design from autodesk - it's free and quite easy to master -at least for simple designs, like these templates.
More complex structures I tend to split so I don't get too much overhead (or bridging is the term), this is where my printer has its problems, and I don't like to use support if i can, feeling it is a waste of time and material.
No former education in designing or machining, but with great joy in building things.
