Does anyone know how I can make it so I am automatically logged in when I visit? Not sure if I have this difficulty only because I am using an iPad.

When you log in isn't there a check box for "remember me" or something like that?
If so just check it and don't log out and it should not clear your cookie.

I use my ipad all the time to check the site and I am always logged in with my username.

If you are using an IPAD I recommend the HMEM app. I use it and like it a lot.

Thanks everyone, the "remember me" or "stay logged in" dialogue is just not there. I'll have more of a root around...

    I logged out to look.
Took me forever to find the log out button.
You are right about not seeing a "remember me" box.
I guess that the admin has set the cookies up to not expire (I have been known to be wrong).
Your iPad may be clearing the cookies when you close the browser.

There is a privacy setting for safari in the settings menu on an ipad where you can configure cookies to be deleted on close. That might be your issue.
