Hi folks
This 8" chuck came my way, and I stuck it on my small lathe. I've been finding myself doing a lot of foreigners in work due to being able to hold stuff in a big chuck - and to some extent I can now stop presuming on my bosses understanding nature and bring some of that stuff home. While turning the back plate at home to match the back of the chuck it became clear all was not well with the head stock bearings, and now I've sorted that out, it runs out by about 6 tenths out there where the clock is in the picture. I'm rather pleased with it.
You can see the rather crude fabricated back plate in the second picture. Seems to work!
