I've got some model railway parts that I need to get some castings made of. I need lots of them, I don't mind making 4 or so but axle boxes and brake blocks I need dozens of! These are all 16mm:ft stuff so thumbnail sized bits!

Can anyone recommend a shop (in the UK) who will make the moulds from the original parts and do small batch runs spin cast in white metal (ghastly stuff) or Brass (Lovely stuff but more expensive getting the moulds made)

Alan

If you want to yourself have a go at white metal casting Model Engineer magazine Vol 199 No 4310 12-25 October 2007 has an article on how to make your own moulds using RTV-100 silicon rubber mould and a quick google search gave me a supplier in the UK.

They say you can even cast Mazak in these moulds although it will shorten the life of the mould.
Sorry can't help you with brass casting though.

Just found a website all about it too.
