Hello Friends

I was always looking for fast and easy way to cast some parts for my engines ,
generally just to pour liquid aluminium to the sand cavity and job is done.
This way of casting is not working because castings corners are not sharp and not properly
filed with aluminium.

Then I got idea What happen if I put on the top of molten aluminium
heat resistant brick ? Maybe weight of brick will push liquid aluminium to the corners
of the sand cavity . It works

You do not need two part moulding form and riser but
this casting method is only for production of simple parts.
Pictures show more
1 sand cavity /for cylinder head/
2 brick on the top of liquid aluminium puddle
3 brick removed for faster cooling
4 job done
5,6 another parts done by this method.

Any comments are welcome
Kadora

Hi kadora !
look very good .
I haven't cast anything yet.
I watched youtube about casting and how to make metal foundry, making a metal melting furnace..learn about it, because I also want to cast something one day
If you don't mind, can you show me some pictures your metal melting furnace
What fuel do you use?
How long does it take for aluminum to melt ?

hello Minh-thanh
I use propane butane gas to feed burner and my kiln melts 1.5 kg of aluminium in 25 minutes.
Now I am experimenting with new back heat radiating kiln and it seems to save 5 minutes
to melt 1.5 kg batch.
I will send you more information on your personal email because I do not want to mix two
separate subject in one thread.
have a nice day.

Try drilling a hole in the brick to pour through. Tapered so the brick can be reused.
