Does anyone know the composition of silver steel? ,I live here in Italy and although I speak fluently they don't know what I'm on about when I try asking for it. It would also be useful for me sometimes to get it in metric sizes...Giles

We call it drill rod here in the states.

It goes by the names A2 or O1. Im sure there are more types.

Thanks to your info I found a place near me that stocks nice ground drill rod in graduations of 0.1mm ,very useful for d-bits! ,I bought 3 metre lengths for 12 euros ($15), they also have a good selection of tooling, and I never even knew it was there and I've been here 15 years!..thanks again..Giles
