I'm helping another local model engineer by getting an old Servomet EDM running; it's been standing unused for 20+ years and has some problems. I have managed to get it powerd up and running, but it's started to blow fuses; I am in desperate need of a schematic for this machine, can anyone help?

you should post some (s) pictures of your board so there are
chances of suggesting some trouble shooting
and add a description if your using many transfo
ant electronic logic circuit

The unit is very old, probably 1960's; it's point to point wired. It's based on thermionic valves (tubes), so most of the circuitry is powered from mains voltage derived supplies. I can reverse engineer most PCBs, but this is just a rat's nest of wiring!

If the mechanics are good I think this is a job to just tear out everything electrical and re-wire it with modern parts that you know and understand.

Get the EDM book and build that electronics.

If it's 50 years old, try first electrolytic capacitors, i.e. change (for a new - really new, not some old stock) everything you can find. Change also the diodes for a newer and more "robust" types.
