Now that the engine has been completed, here is a video of it on its first run.
I tried to use a tea light as heat source initially but it did not give enough heat, so a Mamod fuel pellet was used with success.

The engine is bouncing around a bit because it is only resting on the cork mat base. I found that the crank balance weight is not quite sufficient to counteract the weight of the displacer.

For this run, there was no cooling water in the platform. It would probably have carried on running for quite a few minutes more after the video ended if the fire was kept underneath. After the run, the platform was only 'warm' and no discomfort to my hand on the grey paint.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the outcome of this project.

Nice one. They are not the easiest engines to get running, and it is small, even harder!
