question about crucible

I am going to build an electric foundry like Budgie (www.budgiemetalworks.ca).
Can you guys tell me the pros and cons on what crucible would work better? Clay graphite or silicon carbide??

I have an electric foundry furnace and I use a steel crucible that I made from a piece of 4" diameter x 1/8" wall tubing. I welded a 1/8" thick steel disk to the bottom. Works great and it won't break like clay or silicon carbide will. I've also used the outer shell of a discarded oil filter for a crucible. However, these are pretty thin walled and need to be inspected regularly for weak spots.
