To tell you the truth, I wasn't so much interested in engraving as I was the engravers. These are quite ingenious the way they work and may have something in common with steam / compressed air engines. The interesting part is that they are valveless. I'm wondering if the mechanism couldn't be adapted to a compressed air engine.
