I would love to pin the map but when I click on the link it takes me to the index and there is no map to pin.

OK, so how do I send a private message to a member? I clicked on the name and the box came up, I filled it in but could not find a send button.

Click on the members' name and choose the 'Start a conversation' button. Then type your message in the box that opens and hit the 'Start a conversation' button below the text box and it will send.

The member map is no longer available, as the software was discontinued many years ago. There's not likely to be a replacement.

That's a shame. It would be nice to meet some of you who are near me.

If I find a different way of doing it, who would I need to get permission off?

Hi, new Pin Map would be a great idea. IF you can't get a moderator (isn't it in his "job description" ?) to delete the original Pin Map post, suggest you call it something like New 2018 Pin Map to make it absolutely clear to members to disregard the original post. Best of luck, and look forward to adding my details to your new Pin Map!!

I would like to see the "Members Map" reinstated somehow. It would help if members put their location in their profiles/posts as quite often a product/service etc is purely for their country

The problem is, the software that was used for the pin map was a freely available online tool. Now commercial interests have decided tools of this nature are extremely valuable. Having a bit of a look around online, it looks like each member would have to pay at least a couple of dollars each, probably more like $5, per year, to add this functionality. People just aren't going to be willing to do this. If you find something, let me know and I'll look in to it.

There is a position in your profile to add your location to your visible profile (see mine for instance) and I would encourage all members to fill it out. I agree, this is a handy piece of information to have when someone is asking about suppliers to use/etc. and is far more user friendly than a map as well. Really, the map is a great idea as a piece of fun, but not really useable. Can you imagine what it would look like with 50,000 red dots scattered over a map of the globe? Now how would we use that info?

Do you have some sort of problem I'm not aware of here Barry? Plus, you are aware moderator isn't a paid position right? - we're just fellow members helping to keep the forum running smoothly. If you have some criticism or issue, by all means let me or another moderator know, but snide remarks aren't the way to do it.

Hi, Been away so only just read your reply to my post. I'm sorry if it caused offence, that was the very last thing on my mind. If it came across that way perhaps you'll allow me to clarify? What I meant was that that misleading post (because its no longer valid) ideally should be removed. That was all. The reason I mentioned moderator is that I imagine deleting posts is within your remit if necessary. Again, apologies, and thank you for helping to keep this forum interesting.

I offered to start another map on google maps but not a single member took me up on it so I guess there is no interest in it.

I guess I missed your offer to start another map. Please put me down as interested for sure. I have managed to fine one member close to me, well two ferry trips but I have to believe there are other members in my area.

No worries Barry - perhaps a poor choice of words. As has been mentioned recently, it can be very difficult to judge the tone of written words and things can easily be taken the wrong way.
As for the member map, that issue is being looked into so the confusion can be removed.

Info is here. There may end up being only two pins, mine and yours. Hahaa!
