I was mowing this morning and daydreaming about how I was going to
clamp a part in the mill. Felt something bouncing off my head and actually
looked around. I was in a swarm of hornets that had decide to build a
nest in a empty bird feeder that I had just mowed past. My wife was
coming toward me on the tractor and I motioned for her to get back.
She's deathly allergic to bee stings. They got me a couple times. No big
deal, but if just one had gotten to her......
Safety is a 24/7 thing. If I had been paying attention I would have seen
that nest. It was too big to hide.

I had a run in with some hornets not long ago. I went to tow an old van, when I got ready and jumped in and slammed the door the hornets flew out and stung me 5 times before I could get out of there. I jumped out flailing around.

It was time to break out the bug killer before I went around that van again.

We had a kid working with us at the airport that go into a huge bee hive that had been built inside a big wooden spool. He was stung numerous times before he got away from them. Fortunately for him, he wasn't allergic to the stings.

Our company called in a bee keeper, and they moved the hive a couple of days later. I missed seeing the operation, but was told it was interesting.
