I am from North Dakota. I farm and ranch now but have always done welding/machining repair work. I have just completed a Henry Ford kitchen sink engine. I was tickled pink when I got it to fire up. I am getting started on another but this time I may just make it up as I go. I have followed this forum for a while and am very impressed with the level of craftsmanship. Look forward to continue learning here.

Here are some pictures.

Does the town Hurdsfield mean anything to you? I grew up there working in the shop my dad's Allis Chalmers dealership. Moved to Iowa in 1959. It's always interesting to meet up with fellow North Dakotans.

I have several Allis Chalmers tractors and am a big fan of everything Allis. Every time I drive through Hurdsfield, I look at the Allis Chalmers sign on the building and wish it was hanging on my shop.

Now that's interesting. In the later '50s an Allis Chalmers -- Corner Garage sign was stolen in the middle of the night from my dad's place. Years later I started seeing replicas of that exact sign in restaurants around Minnesota and Iowa. It may still be available through restaurant companies that do decorating for businesses. I think I'll try to do an internet search.

Here is a photo I took off Google Earth. Is this the same building? These are the new logo signs.

Man, does that ever bring back memories. That place was my world until I left for college in 1955. Here is the same place taken about 1937, the year I was born.

Wow, way above my pay grade. I am extremely impressed by the quality of work I see on this forum. Maybe when I can retire I will try a more complex engine. My problem now is to many hobbies and too much work.
