HI,

I assembled some small fittings using 50/50 soft solder. This turned out to be not strong enough and the parts failed (came apart). I plan to use silver solder next, but these small parts are still tinned from the lead solder. It is not possible to remove this tinning without making new parts.

I do not have a lot of experience with silver solder and am wondering if it will stick to these tinned parts. Are there any special preparations I would have to make?

Thanks in advance, John.

In order to silver solder these parts successfully you will need to remove all evidence of the tinning. The tinning will act as a barrier and keep the silver solder from sticking
