Good morning, i have a 30cc mighty might that i would like to start work on, there was no casting or metal for the crankshaft. On the plans it says "steel" for crankshaft i will need to buy a peice of round stock and wittle it from that. What would be the best material to use for that? Thank you in advance

I would use 1144 alloy also known as Stressproof. It is strong, fairly hard and machines well. I used it on a 4 cylinder boxer aero motor ( 40CC) with good results. You can buy a small piece at mcmaster.com and some other hobbyist metal suppliers.

I agree with the 1144 - machines very nicely and, as the name suggests, is less likely to warp from internal stresses as you machine it. I've made a one piece V4 crank from it.

Thank you for the recommendations, i was thinking stress proof. But thought i would ask to be sure. You just made up my mind
