A friend gave my grandfather an old Marklin steam engine, possibly a model #4147. It was missing its boiler. The unit was quite rusty and required a complete disassembly and sandblasting to remove the old paint and rust. We found a boiler on eBay that was about the right size and we made all the fittings and such to bring this unit back to life.

We used high temperature engine paints (Grandpa chose the colors)

Also forgot to mention that the cylinder head cover was missing so we had to machine a replacement as well as a means of attaching it to the engine.
