I wanted to make spoked flywheels, but have no rotary table, no mill :( But I remembered that my unused old Craftsman wood lathe had an indexing feature built in via notches in the back of the main drive pulley. So, I took the headstock off and bolted it to my drill press table, and made a draw bar kinda arrangement to hold stock. Voila (setup to drill the hub here):

... and the setup to drill the rim:

... and all the bits ready to be brazed up tomorrow:

That's great!! How does that go -- there is more than one way to skin a cat.

What engine are you building? Will want to keep an eye on you for more imaginative setups.

great idea i have the same lathe (Asian copy but) i filed V notches in the pulley to make it easier to see the divisions best thing i ever did to that lathe!

I'm thinking of doing another version of the first one I did (with the rotary valve in the main shaft), but machined accurately this time ::)

Cool!
Hell of a lot cheaper than buying yourself a rotary table too.
