Plus the with the aluminum you have some awsome magnets in the drives also. I know I've gotten a few hard drives from friends and the first thing I salvaged was the magnets for a magnet chuck.

I work at a REEE recycle plant and I get to choose the better magnets. Those high capacity server disks have magnets about 10mm thick. ;) I've collected quite a few of them. I can't recycle the aluminium as the boss wouldn't be very happy :big:

hi guys i have a box like that and another with heat sink, but the heat sinks are extruded aluminum, right? not so good for melting?.

Another interesting thing about HDDs is their motors.
