...but I learned a lot...especially about what not to do and what never works...but it's been great experienced. I found this site while looking for info on how an oil-field pump-jack works. The idea behind this is an experiment that would create a small affordable power-hammer for my modest blacksmith shop...I've already found plans for a pump-jack. I'm wondering if any of y'all might have some ideas...thanks Rico

Why don't you build a spring-loaded power hammer such as in the photo below. Lots of info on this, and on the so-called "tire hammer" in the 'net - just google... or go to: Types of Power Hammers for some ideas.
