here is my finished build of Brian Rupnows imperialized version of Jan Ridders flame eater.

it was a lot of fun and tears building this thing and at the end it runs very well and starts right up after a few seconds of pre heating the cylinder.

this is my third engine. first one was a failure -bj cicada diesel aero engine, 2nd is a steam wobbler and now I have a flame eater

Thanks a whole lot to all on this forum who assisted me with my questions, especially Brian Rupnow who answered emails, stupid questions and even supplied me with a piece of wick for the burner.

build log here:

youtube video running here:

and some photos

first photo: the glass shot bottle was a liquor bottle that I made a new cap for so as to hold the denatured alcohol for fuel
the funnel is cut from the left over stainless steel stock from making the engine cylinder
the base is made from some picture frame material I found at my moms work shop.
second photo is taken while the engine is running
third photo is to show the reflection of the engine showing up in the engine turned (jeweled) area and vice versa it showing up on the polished non engine turned surfaces of the engine.

That's a very nice engine. I don't always go for bling, but I think you've done a fantastic job making your engine stand out. The engine-turning on the base turned out very well.

Video?

Just got on this morning. Now I see the video.

Your engine runs every bit as well as it looks.

Congratulations Times Two.

Great engine!
I am having trouble finding plans for it....can anyone help me?
Thanks

Brian Rupnow on this forum is selling the imperial version however Jan Ridders the original designer has them in metric for free. for 20.00 though it was worth it for me to buy Brians because I just don't have any metric drills or hardly any metric taps and dies. 20.00 was a huge time / headache saver for me. his plans and support was also very nice. if you want Jans version here is his website http://www.ridders.nu/ if you email him and request the plans he will email you back with them for free.

also if you build the engine goto my build log for a source of very cheap and quality graphite seller. they were very nice to me on the phone and the price I thought was reasonable as well
