How I got the scrap man to sell me some of his stuff.

Have any of you gone to a scrapyard and been told to get out? I managed to get out of this one with some metal, and the scrap man got some cash. A win-win situation if you ever saw one! I simply stood my ground no matter what he said, and it seems he's all bluster. He eventually agreed to sell. I bought about a metre of approx. 15mm brass rod for $5. I've also given him my mobile number, so he'll ring me in anything comes in. I'll be notified of brass, copper, general bits of old machinery, lathes and mills.

We have a yard here with an owner who is paranoid about H&S I reckon as he won't even let you look let alone rummage or buy

It seems these people were also a bit paranoid about insurance, that's were standing ground and refusing to leave won out.
