I started making a threaded spindle to allow his lathe chucks and backplates to be attached to the large rotary table, for use on the mill.

Seems unlikely it would be a metric thread, but I guess it could be. If it's a 12x37 lathe, the current Grizzly one has a 2-1/4x8 TPI thread on it.

As a quick check, you could try holding a 3/8-16 bolt (or 16 TPI thread gauge) up to the spindle threads and seeing if the notches and valleys line up with every other one.

I tried measuring the threads per inch, and it is close to 8 TPI, but I cannot verify it exactly.

Pat,

Close to 8 tpi is 3mm pitch,(8.46667 tpi), a typical metric leadscrew pitch.

Best Regards
