This site sure has some interesting and informative postings.
I do need to learn more about machining, and may have a few questions along the way.
I'm a Metrology Engineer by trade since 69.
Being in metrology, I can precisely measure how badly my projects are out of whack.
I've had a mill for a long time, and I just bought a lathe last month, and am learning what to do with it before I plug it in and wreck it. ;D

Howie,

Welcome to a very friendly place. Ask and your dreams can come true.

I came from a very tight background such as yours, everything had to be spot on or it was in the can. It took me many years to get over that trait, and just accept things as they turn out, and make things to fit and run. But at certain times that attitude is needed, so don't get rid of it completely.

Just enjoy what you are going to be doing with your new found skills.

Good to hear from the left coast. I am a native San Josean ;D although I have migrated ~250 miles north on the coast.

A warm welcome from the right coast. This place is one of the best out of all the ones I've visited. I give it a 5 star rating. ;D
