Hi Everyone,

Just picked myself up a Unimat SL today and looking to start model building.
I'm a mechanical Fitter by trade, Have done a lot of machining but this is the first piece
of machinery I've purchased for myself. And by far the smallest I've ever used..
All tips and project suggestions are welcome.
Look forward to talking to you all

Gary.

Faith and Begorrah!! A real Irishman. Welcome to the forum. I have ancestors about six generations back that came from Ireland. There are lots of interesting engines and interesting people here.---Brian

Greetings Gary and may I suggest an oldest book which may be of use.

It's Rex Tingey's Making the Most of the Unimat and deals with the SL and the Mk3.
Probably you could dowload it as a pdf. It deals with such things as overhauling worn bed bars and how to stiffen it when it is used a pillar drill. One nice thing is the design for a small rotary table which he made.
Incidentally, the threads on the SL and the Mk3 are -- different . There are several UK suppliers of things like belts and chucks

I've a MJ-189 which is a Mk3 clone. I hope that you enjoy here and the little lathe

Norman
