The inner wall of the cylinder has been machined. But I don't know if the inner wall needs to be sanded, or use a piston ring to run in?

If the cylinder bore is round and of constant dia., all you need is to establish a 320 grit cross-hatched finish for the initial ring seating. You can do this with a brake cylinder hone from your local auto parts store. Be careful to not impart a taper. You can also use a Flex-hone http://info.brushresearch.com/downl...n-guide-finishing-deburring-two-cycle-engines. This is the preferred method, but costs more, of course. Flex-hone brushes can be purchased on Amazon.
