Here is a good link to slow motion videos of metal cutting operations.
All with inserts by Ingersoll Cutting Tools carbide and cermet tools.
Turning, Milling and drilling operations in steel.
Link is to the beginning of a playlist of at least 25 videos of different operations. As each 1 to 3 minute video finishes the next one starts until you stop it. You can step through the videos with the next button near the lower left of each video.
EDIT: For some reason if you click on the photo it only takes you to that video, not the play list. For the play list cut and paste the quoted link into your browser. They are both the same link but works differently.
Not much applies directly to home machining but it is interesting to watch the formation of the chips because our operations should look the same.
