Have this old Hot Tub - decided to see about fixing it. Motor burned out and in taking it apart the impeller [plastic] busted.
Now getting a new motor was easy, new impeller, not so much.
Only one available was some 50% wider than the original, fit into the pump housing just fine. Problem began with the motor being 11.2 amp rated and the size of the new impeller was forcing the pump to run at 16 amp - Not Good - Thank goodness for those with brains that came up with
BHP1/BHP2 = (D1/D2)^3 Impeller dia D! 4.25"
- so 16/11.2 = 1.42 and (4.25/3.75)^3 = 1.44 [close enough] and now the pump runs fine and dandy at just a tad under 11.5 amps . . .
I often forget that without those who have minds that work these hands of my would be useless . . . So Thank You, whoever you are - for making these hands able . .
