We paused it until Friday. It's a custom plugin and we recently moved to another e-mail provider so have to do some leg work.

Unfortunately this is a custom made plugin, I can attempt to get the developer to give an option for weekly but it's not a setting that's available right now.

At the bottom of the e-mail there is a Unsubscribe link, if you click it, you will never get it again but the caveat is you can't undo the unsubscribe right now.

Another thing that could make the updates more meaningful. It seems to me that the summary is clipping the first couple lines of the very first post. Wouldn't it make more sense to clip content of a more current post representing the newer content?

The post chosen have recent comments. If you've already read them it should go to first unread.

I apologise, I should have said the majority of the members who have written on the subject.

Hmm.. I don't think its working that way. Example from email update I just received yesterday. It shows the first post ~ Mar-2018. I've read this particular topic essentially same day as they posted & its now 5 months old. The email synopsis summary looks the same as post#1.

This daily email is crazy. I also don't care for the fact that so many of the posts are from years ago. Today's lead-out article was from the foundation post!! I would appreciate updates from people and articles that I am following. I don't seem to get them anymore!

@Cymro77 have you resubscribed to those threads and members since the change over? Do you have email alerts set for those? Please check alert preferences in your control panel area.

I must be a total computer idiot, but I cannot seem to get it setup properly. Frankly this new website design is an absolute pain! I shall keep fiddling with it but do wish the emails were more up to date and less frequent! Weekly would be fine if the material is UP TO DATE, and not old stuff. It is embarrassing to type a comment on a build only to find that the build was 5 years ago and your comment is no longer relevant!

The update only provides detail on threads that have been active since the last update and doesn't take into account the starting date of the thread itself. So if members are actively posting in a thread it will show up. I agree this can be a slight issue when someone searching for something specific accidentally reactivates an old, completed thread, though I have seen some really interesting stuff come up that I've never seen. However, as is the case for some threads, just because they're old doesn't mean they're dead or irrelevant. My own Peewee V4 build is still going (in fits and starts) after 4+ years and Edi's Tiny inline 4 just got completed after about the same time. There's no real way to tell what active threads members actually want to be informed about and start date isn't meaningful unfortunately.

The updates were clagging up my Email so I have disabled all notifications from HMEM. This probably will also stop PMs so it may take me a while to respond in the future :(

    Weekly please.
But ideally allow us the option to choose for ourselves - daily, weekly or monthly. And if I unsubscribe, I may not want that to last a lifetime, so allow me the option to re-subscribe. Please.

Writing in big red letters, does not make your opinion any more valid LOL

Clearly big red letters or not. There is a problem that needs sorting,by who I don't know ,but in this age of modern tech it must be easy to sort out.

I don't know anything about the tech behind the site but I'd say if it was a simple task it would have been done by now. The old software also had a set frequency for updates which users could not change either, but it was every month.

Personally, most of the emails I was getting from HMEM were notifications of replies to threads - which were being generated every time someone posted. This was filling up my inbox so I changed my notification preferences in my account settings and that solved that issue. The 1-per-day forum update emails doesn't concern me much - I generally don't open it but like to keep receiving them so I don't want to cancel.

I have to say I like the new software though. It loads quicker and is simpler to use (especially drag-and-drop pictures) and having a daily update email seems like a small price to pay for the added features.
