Thanks, Dave. Notice the ignition system? It drives a Ford coil-over-plug coil in series with a 5-ohm wire-wound resistor to keep the current down. Uses a reed switch inside a brass tube to trigger the ignition on every revolution.

The reed switch has a wire attached to one side and the other is soldered to the end of the 1/8" tube. The reed switch is capable of many more switches per second than a farm-style engine will need. Long time between failures compared to even a good Hall Effect Device. Cheaper too!

NIce. I'm glad the ignition modules are going to a good cause. Cool idea for hiding the reed switch.
I like Pauls idea of using four NiMh batteries. only 6v but no resistor required. The batteries themselves limit the current.
