Cartridge feed from the magazine? You said that the cartridges are gravity fed from the magazine, there's no spring assist? I assume that there's some sort of guide in the magazine to stop the dreaded rim-lock from happening? Or is it just that at that point in the rotation on the cam you aren't trying to move the bolt forward?

The rounds stack in the magazine with each round tilting lead end downwards a bit as the stack builds. The bolt does not move forward and push the round forward until the barrel has moved past the magazine. If you look at the cam you will see a flat spot at the top and another at the bottom. The top flat spot is for loading the round and the bottom flat spot is where the bolt is locked in position before firing. The original gun had a weight at the top of the stack.

The Gatling gun has always amazed me by the beauty and inner workings. Now that I am getting to the point of completing the major projects needed around here and my wife just bought a new Smithy Granite 1340 Lathe/Mill for my birthday and Christmas present, I plan tp get back into my R/C planes and machining. Beautiful work.....

Thanks for the comments guys. Happy to see you like the Gatling Gun. Funny how something so evil is so appealing to look at.

The plans was sold in a lot of metal magazines at one time. That was a long time ago and is there any way to get them?
Very nice build and I am sure to let it rattle is just exhilarating.
    Thank you for sharing.

Evil, it's a mechanical contrivance. THINGS are not evil, only when put to evil uses by a PERSON does anything become evil. It is the action of an evil person that creates the evil(ity?) not the existence of a inanimate object or mechanical contrivance.
