Right Guys I've now made my furnace using an old Propane cylinder. I'm intending to run this on charcoal simple for safety reasons whilst I learn how to do this properly. My question now is given that I need to construct some kind of shelter to operate in what should I construct the floor from...... I've read some frightening stories about "damp" concrete floors. The walls and and roof will be steel. Any advice will be appreciated.
 
good old dirt. like abby said sand . clay will work . dirt/clay is the classic blacksmith floor.

concrete as you know can explode spaul. wood can catch fire.
