Here in RSA you only get what you pay for, when you buy something. I mean on a 200km trip to the Little Big City of Bloem(fontein) I usally stop at some of 3 “engineering shops.” I bought 2 little offcuts of round stainless last Friday. About 23cm, both, substantially under 10mm and 12mm. Doesn’t look like much with no specs except that “all the engineering shops use it sometimes” and expensive at R35 > US$7, I thought. Something to play with.

I anticipated that it would be difficult but cuts like a dream ... long squeaky curls.

be careful stainless swarf will cut you if you touch it bare handed.
