Engine muffler

As I am nearing completion of a "Farm Boy" hit and miss engine, I find myself looking at mufflers the most popular one and certainly the most appealing to me is made using what looks like two small shallow dishes bolted rim to rim. Does anyone have any information on these mufflers as I have been unable to find anything so far?

I'm sure you could make it larger or smaller with the same proportions
