Grizzled has patterns from South bend and drawings. Let's not forget they had parts too.
Grizzlies can manufacturer South bend lathes than copy some else lathe.

Iy's rather refreshing to know that NEW parts are available for good old machinery. Myford are probably part reconditioning old-ish Super7'. Mine is 'as new' from the original Myford factory and has power cross feed and the integral gear box. None of it would appeal to the comedians that who have difficulty in discovering where they put their pocket book
Writing about castings reminds me that I am getting a superb addition for my lathe. In the 30's possibly, a firm on the English Lake District made specialist parts for Myfords. I had and have two spindles one for drilling and one for grinding which used - those rather nice line shafting with pulleys which don't slip

A few days ago, Another vertical height pillar tool calibrated with all sorts of divisions came up for sale.
Clearly, the owner knew 'something ' of its heritage and it was fitted with a Myford threaded nose and with a 9 9 row division plate.
The price was- a bit high and I e-mailed him. I negotiated a sensible and a little lower price. Well it is in Lathes.co.uk in the Potts description. What is is is that the Potts company made original machines completely but sold through their agents drawings and castings- presumably for those who could not afford the finished article. The firm moved from Edinburgh possibly 'bought out, the went bust and then Hemingwaykits who sell the revised Mk3 Quorn kit and lots of engine kits from Ned Westbury and Leonard Sparey.
So I am getting the thing- knowing exactly what its full potential is. Laughingly, I ordered 30 kilos(!) of assorted mild steel off cuts and a new supply of assorted sizes of round EN1A-- and the silly price will do all the missing pulleys and line shafting to use the round silicone belting which was left over after from my tool and cutter grinders. ( Back on topic, you see)
And then I feel rather pleased about the vaccine business from when I acquired shares in Imperial Chemical Industries which are know known as Astra Zeneca. So really, all this is free- or sort of.
