I am planning on building an oil fired foundry. I have found where I can get hold of 5 aluminum truck wheels. Was wondering if these are good for pouring castings to be turned on a metal lathe. I have many questions but this one needs an answer right away before they haul them to the junk yard. Thanks Harold

I have heard that aluminum rims are alloy 356, which is what is used for aluminum castings, so I would say those rims would be good for castings.
Cutting them up into small pieces is not necessarily easy.
