some where on hear a while ago someone was talking about a different parallel link idea for a beam engine, well i have 2 pictures of a different set of links.

No, It doesn't help at all :) Now we have another linkage to figure out.

I wonder what it is called? Is it a accurate model of something that was done? Does it do the job of helping keep the connection to the piston vertical?


All I can tell for sure is that it is not a watts link,or a Peaucellier-Lipkin Linkage. Thanks for posting.

I don't think the linkage is to straighten the piston rod. Rather, the links above the beam activate the levers and the rod connecting to the red (pump?).

If you look closer you will see that the pump in connected to the beam and the linkage system is connected to a pair of little beams attached to the central support.
