Ok, I know there is lots of info on here but I'm still unsure what to use.
This is for a petrol engine, with ally piston and cast iron rings.
What I'm trying to find out is what the best material is for my wet liners.

By best I mean what material will last the longest in use, forget machineability and price etc. I have access to spun cast iron bar and EN24T chrome moly steel.

Thanks in anticipation,

Keith.

IMO it's hard to beat cast iron for a cylinder. I assume your "spun cast iron bar" is similar to Dura-Bar (brand) cast iron, which is great stuff to work with. Finish the bore by lapping, and it ought to be about ideal.
