I have a model single cylinder slow revving engine using traditional points and coil ignition. The points have started to spark so I imagine the condenser has failed, but there is still a spark at the plug.

I've no idea what condenser is on the engine at the moment.

The coil is a 12v non-ballast resistor type. Does it make any difference what condenser I use, provided it is for a 12v system? For example, I look on eBay and there are quite a few different condensers, all for 12v systems, so what's the difference between them?

Almost all ignition condensers are about the same value. Just buy one that physically fits your mounting.
Some sparking at the points is normal so it may be OK anyhow. If your plug is sparking and the engine is running, I would not worry about it.

Thanks, Hopper.
I realise that the main reason for using a condenser is to boost the spark voltage, but I also thought that it prevented the points pitting.
Anyway, I can now look for any condenser as a replacement to ease my concerns.
