CNC face height milling

After the pocketing operation and slot face milling, the face height has to be milled:

Nice video! The router looks like it is made out of wood, do you have overall video or pics of the machine itself? I've been floating a lot of different router designs around in my head so adding to the catalog of designs can be helpful.
 
Just for fun I ran you numbers through Gwizard. It gave a feed rate of 1317mm/min with a 5mm 2fl end mill .725 DOC.
I don't know if your machine can handle that speed but if it can your machine time would be cut in half.

Gwizard is a great program for figuring feeds and speeds.

I had a look at Laurent's youtube channel. The parts being made are custom wheels for a golf cart replacing some plastic wheels.

That's what i was saying on the pocket thread. It is wood and probably stepper motors so i dont know if it can achieve that feedrate.

Any way, you'll get a better finish by slowing your speed or increasing feed.

Thanks Dave for the informations. I use G wizard but for other stuff. The wooden base is not stiff enough for a .725 DOC. Regarding the 1300 feed rate, as I build axis with stepper motor they lost torque when speed increase . At 1000 mm/min I loss 50% of torque :wall:
