Hi

As many are no doubt aware, Brisbane is one of the many areas of Australia suffering some
incredible flooding. My little sister resides in New Farm (a Brisbane suburb) right on
the banks of the river..... as her flat is on the second floor, she avoided the sort of devastation
that many are enduring, although she does have a meter of water in the garage.

Look here for some before/after photos to get an idea of the damage. Run your cursor left/right
over the photos for a before/after view.

Joe,

Very significant flooding as the pictures clearly show. I am happy that your sister avoided much of the devastation and I hope any other of our members in the affected areas will have been as fortunate

It was really said to hear how some people where hit by a 8 mtr wall of water without notice. They are into the clean up now with people traveling from all over Australia to help. My mate is a interstate truck driver and he said their was a line up of dump trucks, bob cats and excavators all eager to help.
The Premier was on the TV and said this was a tragedy of war proportions.

Here is a frog getting a lift off a snake in the floods

hi Joe
they are calling it a one in two hundred year flood now
I hope they are right !!

I thought they said it was as bad as the 1974 floods Pete. Is it worse now?

Vic.

We had a terrible flood here in 1996 caused by a 100 Year Storm.

At least it seemed terrible at the time...
The flooding there makes our big one look more like an overflowed bathtub.

Be safe there!

Rick
