Hi All,
I have had the plans for a while, and have finally made a start on it. Delivery from the metal munger arrived. Started with the rear plate.
Cheers
Andrew

Hi All,
Got the cylinder liner, piston, ring and piston pin done today, god I hate cast iron, messy stuff. Next will be cylinder head, still trying to get my head around some of the angles needed for it
Cheers

Very nice, clever way to narrow the belts. Also cool you could preserve the outside flange on the narrowed, larger gear. I've started to use these belts and have lots to learn, getting the length correct is still a challenge!

John, Just getting the correct length belt can be a challenge, this is why I had to cut the belt and gears gown, could not find 10mm sized anywhere. Ended up with 15mm and cut them down.

Hi All,
Made a start on the head, machined a blank out of round bar, the marked out, on to the mill for drilling, then back in the lathe for more machining, still have to separate the head from base material and then machine the combustion chamber, drill for glow plug and valve cages.
Cheers
Andrew

Hi All,
Still working on the head, removed from base material, and machined to size, then had to make up a jig to hold the head for further machining. After getting my head around the angles, I went and drilled and tapped the glow plug hole, then rotated the head and finished out the plug hole. Now to spend some time re-setting the mill to "0". I have had to order some cutters to finish of the valve guides and holes, as I don't have the correct size, or they are damaged. My little "X2" mill was getting a work out.

Cheers
Andrew

Cam and cam buckets done and installed, engine did not turn over when cams were depressed, not enough room in the cam bucket recess to allow travel of cam, valve guide required mod to allow travel, then had to re-cut cam as first one was cut for reverse direction. I have some more adjustments before running.
Cheers
Andrew

You would not believe how much oil these 4 stroke engines make in the crankcase. I fly Satio engines and the oil that comes out of the vent makes one hell of a mess.
