Another new guy

howdy folks , been a member/reader here for several years & I think I'm getting close to start thinking bout building a engine of some kind. I think I remember seeing a few post that mentioned some good starter engines made from standard size material/ stock sizes & I can't remember what they were called . I would like to learn more about these & maybe see some pics of ones that some of you folks have made . Any info is greatly appreciated.
