Holiday greetings from Florida,
I designed and built my own flame eater. I should have paid more attention to the members that bemoaned their start up problems. I've read in other posts that if all is well I should get and audible "pop" when I turn it over without the burner. At what point in the cycle would the pop be generated?
I don't hear no stinking pop.

Does depend a bit on if you just have the shutter or if you have a shutter and exhaust valve. Mine has both and I only get a very small pop when the shutter starts to uncover the port. However if I turn it over backwards I get a massive pop at the same point.
