Greetings

Have been looking for a smaller lathe but do want something decent.
Found a Milltronics ML20 at a fairly reasonable price.
Price that is actually less than most Chinese import new 13 x 40.
Problems that I have with the imports - - - poor speed selection and range (usually they stop at 1800 rpm and that's pitifully slow for any smaller steel work and worse in aluminum) other than that I think I could get such to do what I want. The better quality imports are ok but now I would need to find easy double the money of the Milltronics.
Negative on the Milltronics side - - - - its not a manual lathe - - - - its a 'teach' CNC at minimum.
Controls aren't inspiring to those that have them.

What say you?

I'd love 1,800 rpm. My 83 year old lathe only goes to about 1000. Yet somehow we all manage to cope with what we have.

Alas, I have no direct input for you. Perhaps rip the motor out of a Seig and put in another for more rpms?
