I have been doing some looking around for turnkey CNC machines, but the price is awful large to get started with. I am looking for a small to medium sized machine.

In my searching I am leaning more and more to the 'conversion' side of things. I want to get up and running quickly, and found a couple kits that should make things easier.

These are to convert the X3.

Here is the machine

Here is the Hardware kit. There are a coupel to choose from, I would like to go with the ballscrew setup for $589, although there is a premium ballscrew setup for much more. Is the premium that much better?

So, other than software and a computer, what els am I going to need to buy/make? Or is this everything I need.

This appears to be a pretty decent deal, when compared to the Turnkey versions of the X3.

I suggest you look at the motors and drivers from Keiling. I would use the Gecko 540 driver.

Id also consider some smaller motors- I used those sizes on my Jet knee mill, Thr 280 oz-in should be fine for an X2

Ron thanks for the response.

The large motor is for the Z axis, for use without a counterbalance system. I could probably get away with less then the 400oz for the x and y, but I like to go over just to be safe. The difference in price is not that much, plus everything should match the hardware kit from CNC fusion.

It seems like the Gecko Drivers and steppers from Keiling are more expensive, plus there is just way to many choices to go through, are they that much better?

I really like the matched kits. It takes all the searching out of the equation, and possibly screwing it up and frying my new equipment.

Are you saying that this kit is not any good? I seems quite affordable, considering.
