    A question about your Wyvern. I am currently building a Wyvern but I am struggling to undersatand how the cam shaft mount fits under the carank so the gears engage . I think I have machined the bits as per the drawings but it doesnt align. Any chance of a photo of yours with the flywheel off?

    Thank you I will try your method it looks good . I will also use my 4jaw chuck it will hold the cast iron bar much better than a 3 jaw .

    Hi I have recently stated a Wyvern . Not sure how to machine the cylinder though there is a lot of metal to remove and the finished item looks fragile .

    I have made two engines from Cotswold Heritage , very nice kits . I also have an untouched McOnie kit . The base plate is too long to machine on my little mill but I will start it soon .

    Hi Depends what eqipment you have but a Stuart 10V can be built with a lathe and small drill press .

    True the earlier kits have a nice forged crank ( not cast ) and my copy of the Book Building a Verticle Steam Engine from Castings covers this item . I made a simple jig as detailed in the book to machine mine .

    I agree get trhe book . I started with a 10H years ago after I got a small lathe . I remember being surprised at how many additional tools I needed!
