Of course I do. Some will investigate, some won't. You can stay, I'll close my account.

    Expert Multi Cylinder Glow Driver

Glow plugs, usually rated 1.2 or 1.5V, require about 1V to glow enough to start the engine. I measured .95V and 3.1A for an OS F plug. However, this voltage disregards voltage drop in the circuit. So often, people try using undersize, long leads, or high impedance batteries with glow drivers and...

OK, I watched it when he posted it years ago. Doesn't change anything.

    valve stem turning

This is really about cutter geometry. Taking a large depth of cut while maintaining low cutting force requires high rake and sharp edges. Plenty of inserts fit this requirement, or grind your own. That video was cutting aluminum which is easy as pie. Steel or stainless is more tricky, and I...

    Carbide inserts

Are we assuming all carbide inserts have negative rake? There is a large selection of positive carbide tooling available. You just have to study the catalogs, if available. Brand name tools with specs are available and do maintain a level of quality. Anyone actually look at catalogs for edge...

    Carbide inserts

Inserts are fairly complicated and there is tremendous selection in edge geometry. Increased tip radius theoretically gives better surface finish for a given feed rate, at a cost of increased tool pressure. This means you need a rigid machine. If you're already pulling the tool under the work, I...

    suitable Al-Si alloys for pistons.

Only those building high performance ringless engines use special alloys. For a ringed design, select a common piston alloy and bore clearance to match.

Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

AMR500 will produce 1.8 pressure ratio or ~12psi of boost. High performance engines will have peak primary pressure ratio of ~1.5 just before transfers open. There must be pressure to push the charge through the ports against cylinder pressure which takes time to drop. Slower engines give a bit...

    Can We Talk CAM Programs?

Way back in my early CNC days ~2003 I started with Meshcam. It was incapable of fitting arcs to use G2/G3 in the Gcode output. Quickly I realized it was unsuitable for machine components. I found there were many "art" type CAM. I ended up buying VisualMill. If you can't work with an iges file...

Heavy thread cutting on light lathe

Please understand my comment about the CNC had nothign to do with modern machinery, but the method applied to achieve equal cutting forces on each pass. My 10" Clausing 4900 struggled to perform when the bearings became loose. Fortunately, it uses taper rollers and correcting preload was simple.

Heavy thread cutting on light lathe

If the machine needs service, it needs service. You're giving up a lot in that machine with worn or loose bearings. Typically, each pass is taking the same volume of cut. Looking at the multipass schedule for the tipped off tool, you have a large number of low volume passes in the first few...

    Ambitious ORC Turbine

The phone apps are not doing dynamic (dual plane) balancing. Static balance is acceptable when the shaft is short or is a single disk.

Could this be an engine to build ???

Say a company has a patented tool. You don't like the price. You buy one copy it, and fill your factory with said tool to help your production, never selling one. Is that legal? Infringement comes not from you not making money, but the patent holder not making theirs. Go ahead and make what you...

Could this be an engine to build ???

This is false. The patent is for the design, not for the size. The design could work for any application at any scale. Even tough you make it yourself, this is infringement if a valid patent exists. Using a design currently under patent is very different than drawing up plans for a 100 year old...

aluminum 4032 piston material heat treatment

What I meant is that any aluminum alloy with a -Txxx temper has already been heat treated. T6 has been solution heat treated and age hardened at the foundry. 4032 has 11-13.5% Si. A390 has 16-18% Si. Anyhow, it's all out there on the web. I'd be curious about hardness measurements before and...
