    Automatic transmission servo bore help!

Hey all, I'm overhauling a 2012 Ford Transit connect transmission, its the 4f27e thats used in the older focus. Problem is the servo bore for the 2-4 band wore out, the opposite side of the servo piston is used for the accumulator for the direct clutch, so when there is wear between the pin of...

    Levitating Motor

Balance is a royal PITA. Not only do you have to worry about the balance of the rotor, the power level of the solar cells contribute to a dynamic balance. I had one solar cell on my first one that was very weak compared to the rest and did not have the same level of power at low levels, caused...

    Levitating Motor

Gld- The wire selection, number of turns and resistance are all depen.dent on the output of your solar cells and how much room you have to wrap. You will want to measure the voltage and amperage of each of the cells, in full sunlight. What your trying to accomplish is to make the strongest...

    Six Shooter Elbow Engine

Yes I noticed the self locking action as well if one cylinder was rotated. With a good lubricant such a PTFE grease and a awhile of running, the bores and pistons wear to each the binding is no longer an issue.

If anyone needs to borrow this tool....

I don't believe its an IMP vs Metric system argument. It's really a fractional vs decimal system argument Imperial system can either be decimal or fractional, the metric is only decimal. It actually makes the imperial system far superior. If your doing calculations and complex math, fractions...

    Six Shooter Elbow Engine

The purists who might complain, have never built an elbow engine. You should make it exactly as you would want it. Its looking great so far. I can't wait to see the air ports drilled

    Six Shooter Elbow Engine

If I may offer my piston bending/making advice. Mine were made from drill rod. As you realize, its tough because the piston has to be square in two planes. When I did mine, I decided to make a jig to bend them. I put the set screws above centerline to clamp that one side against the inside and...

    Dumb Vise Questions

I eyeball the jaws to one of the T slot cuts in the table. I have only used mine with the jaws parallel to the T-slots... You can line it up any way you like, I'm sure there are several ways, I do mine similar to a lathe 4 jaw chuck. Snug it down a bit, run your test indicator, write down...

Turning a long thin airgun barrel

If I have a piece that I want to cut a longish section and make it pretty darn close in tolerance, I generally try to turn small portions like 1/2 to 1 inch at a time. Measure often, move over and cut again, until I have cut my entire piece. For instance if I want 6 inches of a rod turned...
