    3D modeling software wanted.

John; Give ViaCAD V8 a try. I use ViaCAD V7 Pro and I like it. You can download both V8 and V7 Pro and try them both out to see which one you like. That is what I did with V6 and V6 Pro. They also have a very good support. Richard

Bill: When you got your castings you should have got a sheet with the planes for a Gas Burner Assembly, if not let me know and I can e-mail you copy of the sheet. I got myself a cheap propane torch for the shut-off valve and a way to hook the burner to a small propane tank. It seems to take a...

Just finished, a Rider-Ericsson hot air pumping engine

Hi Orrin; First let me say you built a great looking engine. I have wanted to build an engine from castings for a long time and after seeing yours I decided to build the Rider-Ericsson. I got the same casting set that you used and have been working on it. I also got the book (Steam and...

I'm thinking of buying these two machines. Opinions?

I have the 7X12” mini-lathe and X2 mini-mill sold by Cummings. Thy are basically the same lathe and mill. It looks too me that the lathe and mill from LittleMachineShop may be much better then the ones I have. 1. Thy both have a more powerful motor. 2. The mill has a larger table (that’s about...

    Stirling Scotch Yoke

What’s in a name? The engine could have been call a beam or a yoke engine. The Stirling Engine was invented around 1816 by Robert Stirling (a Scottish Minister) and the way the beam sets on the rocker support to me it represents a yoke more then just a beam hents the name Stirling Scotch Yoke...

    Stirling Scotch Yoke

Bogs; The one that inspired me to build this one was called a Scotch Yoke so that’s where the name came from. Richard

Need some help on buying a new Mill!

Hi Bob; Just a quick note to say thank you for the information on the mill. After down loading and looking at the manual for the G0705 mill I see what you mean about the head moving off the X,Y setting when you raze and lower it (not good). Went ahead and ordered the G0619, a stand and the...
