    Shop Safety rules

Any one here me cussing today around 6pm Central?

Hi Jeramy, I have been in IT in various forms for more then 30 years. If your not computer literate, go get help. Buy a new laptop that will suit your needs then take it and the old one to a computer store that you can trust to transfer over all your data. The data will most likely be fine on...

My Hodgson 9 Radial Final Assembly

Terry, Most impressive build you have there. Why not stretch yourself and go for a triple row radial. Dave

    IC Engine without piston rings.

The way these engines work without rings is to have a slightly tapered bore in the cylinder. The piston just nips up at top dead centre. So yes they do bind but all in the name of compression. Dave.

    A V8 Maybe

Hi Pete, Have been watching you build with interest. FYI, I retrofitted insulation into my shed, made a huge difference. Just staple gunned it to the battens.

    G'day, Aussie fairly new to site;

Hi Eddie, MP is a nice area, I lived in Tyabb on an off for a while. Bit wet and cold though. Unlike Canberra, cold and windy this time of year. I have the AL356V from H&F so a lathe of similar size (8 inch chucks), I've only had a very few instances when I wanted to chuck something...

    End mills

This was a very timely question as I was just down in the shed milling a 6mm slot in the lathe. I reached for the 6mm four flute cutter and paused, should I use the two flute cutter I thought. Must ask my HMEM when I go back in the house, and here it is. I used the four flute cutter on the...

    Machine Mount

I have them on mine. It certainly makes leveling the Lathe easy. I have no idea if they reduce vibration as I've never run the Lathe without them but it must help. Dave.

    Picking up my Lathe today

Thanks Andrew, I love my MV. It's really soul cleansing after a ride, gets rid of the **** that accumulates in your head at work. John, thanks for the advise. I've run about 6 hours on the lathe so far. I was intending on doing about the same again then changing the fluids. I've got to chase...

    Picking up my Lathe today

Hi Speedyb, I've had about 8 Huskies, a couple of 125CR's and then about 6 250CR's, the last was the first single shock version so some time ago. I loved them. Sometimes I drool over the older Huskies on eBay but how many toys can you have. Dave

    Picking up my Lathe today

Well after two days of work it's now in the shed. I have a couple of issue's to sort still. It was very tight getting it under the roller door. Then hoisting it out of the trailer I'll post some pics of it's final spot today. Cheers,
